39. How about I transfer to your school?

Jin Linkun is very annoying.

On such a hot day, not only did he not hurry along, he insisted on dragging Yu Sheng to take care of the business of the pancake stall, happily ordering two sets according to the stall owner’s recommendations.

Yu Sheng was dragged by his arm, and listening to his enthusiastic chat with the stall owner “He came early in the morning last time” and “Yes, I’m the type to like every single toppings you have”, Yu Sheng really wanted to beat him up on the spot.

“I’ve started to take things, it’s not good if I stop now…”

After Jin Linkun came back with his hands out, holding a bag containing two sets of pancakes for Yu Sheng, who was waiting for him: “It’s not easy to set up a stall in this hot weather, I should support their brave business endeavour.”

This person is especially good at bluffing, giving reasons with a serious tone, as if the curvature at the corner of his mouth can be hidden.

Yu Sheng was not stupid enough to stand under the hot sun to wait for him, he picked an inconspicuous corner, leaned into the shadows and played with his mobile phone for a long time. After finally waiting for this person to come back, he glanced at him indifferently: “Laugh if you want to, don’t hold back.”

Jin Linkun couldn’t hold it back, a bright smile appeared in his eyes, as he reached over to put his hand on Yu Sheng’s shoulder: “Friend, just now—”

“You don’t have to touch me.” Yu Sheng raised his hand and grabbed his arm, which was reaching for his shoulder, “Are you hot?”

On the contrary, after the arm retreated from his shoulder, it curled around his shoulder. Jin Linkun circled him, and the hand behind him passed over, stuffing the ice cream into Yu Sheng’s hand: “Not hot.”

Who knew when this person’s strength became so great, Yu Sheng tried to shrug off Jin Linkun’s arm but could not break free, and before he could react, he had already been fully pulled into his arms.

Yu Sheng was a little confused about what he was going to do, frowned and raised his head, wanting to speak, when saw Jin Linkun lowering his head and burying it in his neck.

Yu Sheng lifted up the ice cream in time, and while thinking about the similarity between his current appearance and the Statue of Liberty*, he tugged at the collar of his shirt and pulled it back: “What are you doing?”

*(here it is comparing him raising the ice cream cup above his head to that of the statue of liberty lady raising her torch above hers.)

Don’t know where Jin Linkun went to buy the ice cream again, it was matcha-flavoured. It was cold and stuffed into the palm of his hand. The slightly bitter smell diluted the sweetness of the milk.

The signboard casted a dark shadow down below, and pedestrians rush past covering the sun, coming and going in a hurry to their destination, and no one notices the movement in the corner.

Jin Linkun’s voice sounded soft, but his tone was very serious: “Thank you.”

Yu Sheng: “…”

Just how much did he love those pancakes?

Yu Sheng was hugged by him, so he could only lift up the ice cream that was in danger of being crushed at any time, and patted him twice on the back casually: “The hell is that thanks for, let go of me quickly, the ice cream is about to melt.”

Jin Linkun smiled lightly, let go of his hand cooperatively, and took a step back: “I’ll buy it for you again after it melts.”

As soon as he opened his mouth, the kindness that had been so hard to fade in the past few days seemed to come back following these words.

Yu Sheng simply calculated the physical exertion of beating someone up now, and felt that it was not necessary, so he ate a mouthful of ice cream and pulled him: “Hurry up, we still need to change buses, otherwise you will get a headache again.”*

*(motion sickness)

He was just saying it casually, but Jin Linkun seemed to have made up his mind to answer every sentence, and followed him honestly: “Let’s go to your house, it’s no bother.”

“…”

Yu Sheng decided to shut up.

The bus here runs every half an hour, and you have to change to another bus to get to the next bus station. Yu Sheng took him all the way to change buses. After getting on the bus, he suddenly realised what Jin Linkun was thanking him for.

That day was the first day of summer camp.

He was shocked by the learning enthusiasm of this place, and decided to climb over the wall to get out as soon as possible, and do what he wants to do when he returns home.

In the end, after walking halfway, Yu Sheng saw an annoying gossip post in the forum, saying that Kunshen’s popularity in the second year of high school was quite good, but was rejected by a group of people, who felt that this person was unusually difficult to get along with.

He thought about why this roommate of his was so worrying while replying to a WeChat message: will go back after buying the pancakes.

After Yu Sheng finished the last bite of ice cream, he turned his head and looked at Jin Linkun who was leaning on the seat.

The bus wobbled forward, most of the people were sleeping lightly, the curtains were not drawn tightly, and the sun would still shine in.

Jin Linkun didn’t let him lean against the window, and sat by himself in the dazzling light, with his black eyes closed behind the glasses, at that moment, he looked neither annoying nor punchable.

Quietly, still clutching that evil pancake with everything he has.

Yu Sheng stretched out his hand, intending to remove the additional heat source first.

As soon as he moved, the person beside him immediately opened his eyes.

When Jin Linkun wakes up after sleeping, the temporary coldness he gave off after waking up would be a little frightening. In addition, his eyes were narrow and long, and their colour was extraordinarily dark. A slight squeeze of his eyelids could scare Liang Yifan into a somersault.

Yu Sheng is usually the one who beats people, and always thinks that the person squinted his eyes as having myopia, so he was basically not affected by his habit, he stretched out his arms and tugged the curtains twice to draw it shut.

Yu Sheng just wanted to close his eyes and rest for a while, but he accidentally fell asleep.

Jin Linkun took a while to come back to his senses, and looked sideways at Yu Sheng, his eyes behind the lenses were bent.

It was very quiet, as soon as the sun fell, it seemed to be drawn into the depths. Jin Linkun’s pupils were dark, and there was no special emotion swirling in the depths.

Yu Sheng met his gaze and couldn’t help frowning.

… I don’t know what this person is dreaming about.

Not getting used to his expression like this, Yu Sheng peeled the wrapper off a piece of candy and stuffed it into his mouth, then lowered his head to snatch the pancake from Jin Linkun’s hand: “…sleep well if you want to sleep, I’ll help you carry it.”

“No, it’s hot.”

Jin Linkun turned his wrist slightly, and the other hand came over to pull his arm: “Yu Sheng.”

Yu Sheng: “What are you doing?”

Jin Linkun didn’t speak, but called him again.

…and it started again.

Yu Sheng: “Speak up if you have something to say, don’t talk if you have nothing to say.”

Jin Linkun closed his mouth obediently, still pulling his arm, raised the corners of his lips, closed his eyes and leaned back.

He didn’t fall asleep this time, but he didn’t want to let go of his hand for no reason.

Knowing that his roommates were always soft-hearted, Jin Linkun closed his eyes, and was thinking about how to pretend to sleep for a while, when Yu Sheng beside him suddenly moved.

Yu Sheng didn’t take his arm back, but with a little effort, he felt around in his pocket with one hand and fiddled with it for a while, suddenly an earphone was stuffed into his ear.

The cool fingertips grazed his ears, and the brisk piano music poured in.

Jin Linkun instinctively held his breath, but before he could react, his glasses had already been taken off.

The eyes which were warm from the glare of the sun were covered by Yu Sheng’s palms, and an impatient voice rang in his ears: “Okay, go to sleep.”

Jin Linkun raised the corners of his lips slightly, and relaxed under the slightly cool palm obediently.

Whether it was because of the coolness of the palm resting on his eyelids felt so comfortable, or because he played the piano so well, but this time the bus didn’t shake for a long time before he really fell asleep.

The distance between the two cities is actually not too far, but the bus does not take the expressway, and drives to the destination in a leisurely manner. The sky is already a little dark, and the lights lining the street are starting to light up one after another.

Jin Linkun was woken up by Yu Sheng’s patting, only to realise that he had slept the whole way.

“Awake?”

Yu Sheng was afraid that he would cross the road before he woke up, so he carried pancakes in one hand and waited for the red light on the side of the crosswalk: “If you’re still tired, wait until we get back before you go back to bed, so you should be awake now.”

Jin Linkun let him pull, rubbed his sore neck, and followed him obediently: “I woke up, I slept very well.”

In fact, he wasn’t sleepy at all, and he didn’t know what was going on. Sitting together, the two of them were wearing a pair of earphones, and unconsciously, a certain idea rose in his heart little by little.

It was so peaceful that he didn’t want to do anything, and he didn’t want to think about anything.

The location where the bus was parked was between the No. 3 Secondary School and the provincial key points. Jin Linkun was actually not familiar with this area. When he crossed the road, he couldn’t help but look around.

Looking up, Yu Sheng was still waiting for him not far ahead.

Jin Linkun quickened two steps to follow: “Yu Sheng.”

Yu Sheng stopped in his tracks, turned around and waited for him to catch up.

Jin Linkun raised his hand and put it on his shoulder: “How about I transfer to your school when school starts?”

Yu Sheng: “…”

“I’m serious.” It was a rare time for Jin Linkun to be serious, holding his hand touching his forehead, a little depressed, “I don’t have a fever.”

Yu Sheng ruthlessly broke his dream: “It’s not good, your principal will probably hold the sickle sculpture of your school and chase our principal to the ends of the earth.”

There is a sickle sculpture in the provincial key point, which is aligned with his reply. Yu Sheng has been to Jin Linkun’s school twice, and his impression is already very deep. He always feels that this thing can play a special role when the zombies are besieging the city.

When he insisted on going to No. 3 Secondary School, he was talked to by the principal of the private school several times. He was even blocked at the entrance of No. 3 Secondary School a few times. He knew very well what status a student like Jin Linkun has in Secondary school.

No matter what happened at the beginning, taking Jin Linkun out of school for a year is probably enough for the headmaster to bleed. If he were to run away to another school after the year, their headmaster will probably really be blackened.

Jin Linkun had no way to refute, so he gave up regretfully, and continued to follow him, looking carefully at the road around him.

When he started to take out his mobile phone to memorise the names of the shop at the corner, Yu Sheng finally couldn’t help it: “Didn’t you go to the school next door to mine?”

“Theoretically yes, but I only know the road to the main entrance.”

Jin Linkun put down his mobile phone, looked up and replied honestly: “To be precise, I only know the road from the bus station in front of our school’s main gate.”

“…”

Considering this person’s other survival skills, Yu Sheng was not surprised at all. He took a deep breath, and grabbed this person who might have been lost at some point: “Then how did you get to the back wall that day? Got lost?”

“Ah?” Asked by him, for a rare moment, Jin Linkun was stunned, and touched the tip of his nose: “…I guess it was.”

No matter how ridiculous this answer sounds, Yu Sheng glanced at him, and without further questioning, he pulled him across the street and entered his neighbourhood.

Jin Linkun originally thought that remembering the way would be a very difficult challenge, but when he looked up, he had successfully reached the finishing line, and couldn’t help being surprised: “So easy to find?”

“There are only two turns.”

Yu Sheng’s house is very close to the back wall of the school, and he goes to school every day, he could not appreciate Jin Linkun’s joy of finally reaching his house: “Left first, then right turn, and we will arrive in ten minutes.”

Jin Linkun nodded and wrote it down in the memo on his phone.

Yu Sheng swiped his card, pressed the floor of his elevator, and glanced at his screen: “…Why do you want to remember this?”

“To be able to Identify the door.”

Jin Linkun rolled his eyes, put away his phone, and stood beside him: “Maybe it’ll be useful  someday in the future.”
