72. First in maths.

The invigilator of the second exam was changed.

It was not known where Yin Mei went. A sharp-eyed classmate who was sitting by the door saw a few invigilators wandering in to the corridor next to each other. Even the principal and several directors were curious and went down to see it.

The entire examination room was covered in a layer of tension, and the students were feeling an inexplicable sense of panic, and the answering of the question papers were also more well behaved.

Although it is a monthly exam, it is still divided into two days according to the college entrance examination rules. The first day is Chinese and mathematics, and the second day is English.

During lunch break at noon, Jin Linkun brought food over as usual, and ate with Yu Sheng in the examination room when everyone had already left: “What movie do you want to watch?”

He purposely handed in the test papers a while earlier, carefully examined the current movies list in detail, had done his homework, and handed over the phone: “There are three European and American movies, five domestic ones, and some anime…”

Yu Sheng stuffed a mouthful of rice into his mouth, and looked at the note that the man handed over, seeing the extremely detailed spoiler for the movie: “…”

“Isn’t this inappropriate?”

Jin Linkun put away the phone sadly: “I thought it’s better this way so that we can choose the movies with a good plot.”

Yu Sheng was caught off guard by the spoiler, and he couldn’t forget the spoilers: “Do you usually read the introduction first when watching movies?”

“I didn’t used to it.” Jin Linkun shook his head honestly, “It wasn’t until later that I realised that you shouldn’t trust the screenwriters too much, otherwise they will always give you some unexpected twists.”

For example, the two men hugging are not necessarily good friends, or it is a youth movie with a good soundtrack, but the romance plotline that just suddenly appears that it catches people off guard.

Yu Sheng also remembered what happened back then, couldn’t help but raise the corners of his lips, and threw the phone back: “I’m okay with any one of them.”

He doesn’t really like watching movies.

There is no particular reason, but it is simply difficult to slow down his speed of thinking to the speed of the plot of the movie and sometimes it is too easy to predict the development of the plot.

But he also had a lot of things that he didn’t like to do before, and after being dragged to do them with this person, he realised that those things were actually quite interesting.

___

Unknowingly, it seemed that he also began to look forward to it, wondering how many things he hadn’t tried, and to do a few more things with him.

Do a few more things with him.

Jin Linkun has a heavy responsibility on his shoulders, holding his mobile phone, and it is difficult to choose between several movies.

Yu Sheng tidied up the lunch box, wiped the table with a paper towel, and was about to lie down and sleep for a while, when Jin Linkun, who was immersed in flipping through movie reviews, had already habitually tucked his hand into Yu Sheng’s pockets.

During the exam, there will be an external school invigilator, and you must dress in fu;; uniform. He didn’t wear a shirt today, and he wore a school uniform like everyone else, looking very low-key.

The boy’s hands are long and slender and the cuffs are buttoned up, and they are dutifully placed on the table, pretending that he is a nap pillow.

He doesn’t know when it became a habit.

Yu Sheng smiled, lowered his head to the pillow, and closed his eyes for a while.

When he was about to fall asleep in a daze, he noticed that the person next to him put down his phone and turned around.

He didn’t move, just rested his head on one hand and looked at him quietly.

___

The piercing glare that held an undisguised hostility this morning has also melted away little by little, and completely dissipated.

At the entrance of the examination room, the principal, who was going to persuade him to calm down a little bit, stood with his hands behind his back for a while, then quietly turned and went upstairs.

The headmaster hid it too well. The director just found out that the little rabbit who had been worrying people for two years turned out to be a hidden academic bully, so he followed up worriedly: “Don’t you want to tell him to score lower?”

“What score is lower? We can’t let the little rabbit be worse than the one next door!” The principal was very insistent, “Teach them a lesson!”

The principal of the third high school has been fighting with the provincial school next door for several days. The main entrances of the two schools are separated by thousands of miles. Every summit meeting requires climbing over the wall.

This time the little bastard next door actually ran over halfway through the exam, obviously a demonstration. The principal’s determination to win was aroused again, and he put the heavy responsibility of fighting for the No. 3 high school on Yu Sheng’s shoulders.

The director pushed up his glasses, and then he remembered the student wearing the provincial school uniform that he hadn’t noticed just now.

…It was too far away to see it clearly, and he vaguely felt a little familiar, and he didn’t know if he had seen him somewhere before.

The two went upstairs one after the other, discussing how to deal with the accident in the examination room, just in time for two students who were sitting on the handrail of the stairs to slide down.

No. 3 high school often has students who are so mischievous and reckless. They have fallen twice before. Fortunately, the floor was low and nothing serious happened before, but they also knocked their heads and blood was everywhere. It looked terribly scary.

Boys at this age are fearless as if they are not afraid of anything, even if they are repeatedly ordered, some people will not take it to heart, and will still take advantage of their lunch break to secretly indulge in this sort of entertainment.

“Stop—little bastards, which class!”

The director of the Education Department was terrified and chased after him, roaring angrily: “Don’t run away, come back to me! Let me tell you that I recognized you at a glance!”

___

The principal watched as the director of the Education Department rushed downstairs and returned to the office, where he dealt with the case of Teacher Yin Mei’s malicious interference with normal teaching tasks.

The two-day exam completely drained the last sliver of vitality from the students of No. 3 high school.

Duan Lei and the others took the exam in the exam hall of their own class, sent away the other students who came to the exam, and wailed in the exam hall downstairs.

“It was completely beyond my knowledge.”

Duan Lei lay on the table, holding the desk in his arms, not wanting to leave his dear classroom: “I don’t know why, but I suddenly missed the thousand multiple-choice questions in the city’s entrance exam previously.”

“I miss it too.” Yao Qiang’s life was in danger, “With options, I can at least choose a better-looking answer.”

The Sports Committee member of Class Seven was in the same examination room with them, sighed: “I was lucky. When I was taking the Chinese language test, at least I could understand Chinese. When it was time for the maths test, the teacher who made the questions didn’t even leave me with a tiny bit of pride.”

The monitor who was a few exam halls in front of them, walked in through the classroom in a trance while carrying his schoolbag: “I have seen these questions before…”

Lao He’s temper and patience are far beyond ordinary people. He is in charge of the invigilation of the last few examination rooms all year round, patted the heads of the students one by one: “It’s okay, don’t have too much pressure.”

Lao He is very kind: “This exam is not to assess your level, but to remind you, let you know what kind of questions and difficulty the college entrance examination will be in 253 days.”

Duan Lei: “…”

Yao Qiang: “…”

Class 7 students: “…”

Lao He hasn’t finished comforting them: “And after excluding all kinds of holidays and weekend breaks, in the remaining 156 days, how much knowledge you need to learn that is still new to you…”

“…”

The pressure multiplied under the comfort of the teacher’s good intentions. The plans that they had agreed on to indulge in the carnival festivities after the exam were completely gone, and they collapsed on their seats, dying.

Lao He had always been in a good mood, he was not in a hurry, so he simply moved a chair and sat down, and had a heart-to-heart talk with his class students.

Talking, he went from the monthly exam to the November holiday, and from the November holiday to the sports meeting.

This year’s schedule is very tragic. The monthly exams are on Mondays and Tuesdays. After the exams, classes continue without a break. There are three consecutive days of marking of the test papers, and the sports meeting will be held directly on weekends.

The sports meet takes up the first two days of the November holiday, and the closing ceremony of the awards ceremony is the last day, and the results of the monthly exam will be released.

Duan Lei: “To be honest, I can feel the cruelty of the school leaders from this insane schedule.”

Yao Qiang: “I imagined how happily the school leaders laughed when the arrangement was finalised.”

The class monitor of class seven reflected on it sadly: “Thinking about it now, it may be because my sister got her postgraduate entrance examination results on New Year’s Eve last time, and I laughed at her, so this is karma.”

They have already made up classes for more than a month during the summer vacation, and it has been nearly a month since the start of school. Finally, there is a sports meeting and a holiday on the 11th. But all the enthusiasm completely disappeared after they remembered the monthly exams.

Lao He handed out sweets from table to table, and kindly encouraged the students: “It’s okay, after the exams are over, the purpose of marking the test papers is to check for gaps in understanding, not to let everyone estimate how many points you have scored – don’t think about this anymore. Sign up for the sports meeting quickly, our class is the only class that has not registered…”

In previous years, Class 7 was the most active in this event. This year, everyone was worrying about their English exams and could not extricate themselves. All the time between classes and evening self-study was used to learn English. Even the sports committee forgot about the registration for the sports meeting.

Lao He originally wanted to remind them in a roundabout way, and he reminded them cryptically several times, but no one reacted to his hint.

As a result, it has been dragged on until now.

Duan Lei was lifeless and unable to get up: “Lao He, you are past the age where you will be beaten when you go home for poor grades. It is difficult to empathise with us…”

Lao He also felt that it was difficult for him to empathise with them. Looking at this group of gloomy class students, he pondered for a while and then slammed the table.

The students who collapsed on the table and withered in various shapes were startled and looked up at the podium.

“Little rabbits.” Lao He pushed up his glasses and took the eraser off, “Sports event, anyone signing up?”

___

Five minutes later, the class monitor presented the filled registration form with both hands respectfully.

“Are we suitable like this?”

The sports committee was a bit guilty and asked for everyone’s opinions, “Would Sheng-ge be okay with holding the placard at the opening ceremony, would he also be okay with leading the exercise at the closing ceremony?”

It is said that Yu Sheng had something to do after the exam and didn’t go back to the classroom. On the way, he ran into the school committee in the examination room next door and asked the school committee to help him with a message.

It was originally the tradition of class 7 to get together and chat after the exam, and it was not that they must be present. Now the class actually only has some people missing, and the rest  put in their opinions remotely through the class group.

They don’t know what Yu Sheng was busy with. Up to now, Yu Sheng was offline in the class group. Several classmates can only make their own decisions and fill in his name first.

“With Sheng-ge taking the lead, the effect will be good!”

The class monitor has been imagining this for a whole year, and he is full of anticipation: “Not to mention, half of the girls in the school voted for our class!”

No. 3 high school has a tradition. Every closing ceremony of the sports meeting has a broadcasting exercise competition. The students who did not participate can vote to select a first, second and third place.

It was quite decent. Once it was the turn of two humanities classes to lead the exercises, one of the class teachers specially made bubble gum for all the students in the school, and almost provoked the other class teacher into buying chocolates.

In the end, it was only after the school strictly prohibited the use of various methods of bribing students to solicit votes that the flames of war were finally temporarily extinguished.

But the two classes still forged an enmity over this, and everything was compared, the passing rate of the school examination was compared, the average score was compared, and the competition continued until the final college entrance examination. One of the classes narrowly won by one person, and finally came to an end.

___

After everyone thought that the story ended like this, the new freshman entered the school, and the flames of war ignited again in the classes led by the two head teachers.

After the original parties had already graduated from university, the war did not stop. As a result, every new class of students were taught the story of why the two humanities classes are incompatible.

Last time, Yu Sheng asked for leave and didn’t participate in the sports meeting. This time it happened to be the turn of Class 7 to perform the exercises. The class monitor couldn’t help being moved, and under pressure, he filled in Yu Sheng’s name: “Don’t be afraid, if he has any questions tomorrow, let Sheng-ge come to see me.”

___

The sports committee was moved for a while, and suddenly realized something and a pencil case was thrown: “Fuck you, you asked for leave tomorrow to accompany your sick girlfriend, and I was the one who made up the note of absence for you!”

A group of people gathered together and conspired to discuss how to make their Sheng-ge willing to take the lead.

The subject of the discussion is in the movie theatre, playing games on the shoulder of his boyfriend.

Considering that even if Yu Sheng just glanced at it, he would inevitably be spoiled by all the popular movies nowadays. After two days of deliberation, Jin Linkun decided to choose a relatively unpopular movie, not so worried about spoilers, and theoretically there will be no magical plot twist.

It was the first time Yu Sheng knew that the movie theatre could show the animals in their spring in the African savannah.

It was so unpopular that there were only two of them in the entire screening hall.

They really owned the theatre.

When the advertisement was broadcast, Jin Linkun still held a sliver of hope and insisted: “There must be other people, maybe they just sit far away from us.”

Yu Sheng played with his mobile phone for a while, and when he heard the movie start, he turned his head and asked him, “Are there any people?”

“…” Jin Linkun patted his head, and turned his gaze back to the screen without any emotions: “Friend, look.”

Yu Sheng was puzzled: “What are you looking at?”

Jin Linkun: “The vast country both of us conquered.”

In the past two days of the exam, Yu Sheng did not use his phone much, and it hadn’t been charged. It ran out of battery after playing for a while.

Jin Linkun handed him his mobile phone, and leaned against his shoulders with his arms around him, wondering if he was seriously watching the story of two male lions and another bald male lion roaring at each other on the screen.

Yu Sheng searched around, but couldn’t find a mobile game that fit his style. He clicked on an indie game and played casually for a while, and suddenly a notification popped out from the group who @ him.

It’s the group in their summer camp group.

They are all a group of chattering academic lords, and they can reach 99+ in a short time. Most of them are arguing about some tricky topics, and their daily life is full of various learning materials carefully collected by teachers from various schools.

Yu Sheng clicked on the message and was about to give it to Jin Linkun, but found out that it was about him.

Liang Yifan: Kunshen, Kunshen, Kunshen, how did Sheng-ge do in the exam ???

Liang Yifan: Who wrote the paper? The humanities questions went to grandma’s house!

Ding Zhengjiao: Science is the same. What did they say about letting us get acquainted with the college entrance examination? If the college entrance examination is like this, the difference between the top few points will not be more than 20 points…

The papers this time are directly in accordance with the college entrance examination format, the difficulty is raised a lot, and the knowledge examined are also detailed. There are a lot of strange questions, which is very stressful for students who have not completed the first round of review.

For the students of No. 3 high school, it’s the same anyway, and they aren’t really as affected. But for the few remaining schools with high enrollment rates and well-known reputations in the province and city, they were really tricked by this test.

In the past, the mathematics papers of the college entrance examination used extra difficult papers. As a result, except for a small number of extremely high scores, the rest of the students who originally relied on mathematics to improve their overall scores failed to raise their overall scores, and instead failed. The tragic history of the collective failure rate of the college entrance examination in the entire province.

Only then did they realise that these people had also done the eight-school joint exam. Yu Sheng briefly recalled the topic and replied: Yes.

The extremely concise two words immediately revealed the identity of the sender of the message.

Liang Yifan recognized him in an instant, and threw himself on the profile picture with the WeChat name of [I have a partner, I’m dating, I’m watching a movie], barking and crying: Sheng-ge, you also think the question is wrong, don’t you!

Liang Yifan: The results this time can’t reflect our true level at all !!

Yu Sheng’s message came back after a while: Yes.

I have a partner, I’m dating, I’m watching a movie: mine can’t represent my true level either.

Liang Yifan confirmed with tears: Really?

I have a partner, I’m dating, I’m watching a movie: really.

It is indeed true.

Yu Sheng hasn’t had time to finish the review, there are many knowledge points that he hasn’t had time to revise, and he only has a hold of 60 to 70% of the questions. It can only be said that he was lucky, and it happened to hit the scope of his review.

If he really had to encounter that kind of comprehensive and detailed question type, his score would be at least 20 to 30 points lower than it is now.

Liang Yifan, who perfectly avoided all the important points, got a little bit of comfort, and put down the phone with tears in his eyes. Just about to cheer up and finish dinner, Liang’s mother, who is a maths teacher in their school, just picked up her mobile phone: “There are results that came out.”

The chopsticks in Liang Yifan’s hand trembled: “So fast?”

Mother Liang patted her son on the head: “The top scorer only had eight multiple-choice questions that are all correct, highest in the entire city. The papers marked are not from your school yet.”

Liang Yifan: “…”

Liang’s mother showed him the phone: “Look, the first place in mathematics in the humanities stream has a score of 148, and the first place mathematics in science stream is 147. Where is the paper set wrong?”
