79. I’m not waiting anymore.

The principal and the director are old and don’t understand the art form of young people. They simply think that the sportswear looks good. They sat together and discussed what was the relationship between the dinosaur and the bear.

Jin Linkun leaned against the railing of the rostrum, quickly took out his mobile phone, and took two photos while Class 7 was walking over.

In the last sports meeting of high school, everyone was wearing school uniforms, shoulders straight, and walking with vigour.

The boy who walked in the front was holding a class board, and his collar was covered in the bright sunlight falling down.

“Sheng-ge is amazing!”

Looking up from the field, the class monitor couldn’t hold back his excitement, and he patted the sports committee’s shoulder with emotion: “Charming and lively, cool and bright!”

It perfectly fits every expectation they had in choosing the leader’s outfit.

Although the other classes came up with a lot of normal and abnormal ideas, their group’s aura attracted people’s attention. When they passed by the rostrum, their class still received the most enthusiastic applause.

“So handsome.” Yao Qiang couldn’t help but sigh with emotion, “Although I know those little girls are not looking at me, I still want to thank the Sports Committee for arranging me to walk in the first row, which made me feel the happiness of being baptised by everyone’s eyes.”

The sports committee indulged in happiness with him: “We seem to be the most beautiful boys in the whole third grade.”

“Excuse me, the prettiest guys in No. 3 High School.” Lao He patted them on the shoulder and led the students to the auditorium. “This is the homework sheet for the November holiday. Take it back and ask your parents to sign it, and hand it in tomorrow…”

After a large number of parents reported that there was no holiday homework due to it being concealed by students, it became a tradition of No. 3 High School to ask parents to sign the holiday homework sheet before submission.

The group of people who had just cheered up immediately wailed, and the other classes were not much better. Looking at the entire field, their energy was more than half weaker than before.

In the sports meeting of no. 3 high school, there were no events on the first day.

There is only an unusually large opening ceremony, which becomes a large-scale class camping snack sharing event.

In this way, at the end of the opening ceremony, two teachers were so tight on time that they had to temporarily cut down the speech.

“I told you before that you are now in the stage of growth, so don’t keep eating this kind of non nutritious snack… Are the spicy strips delicious?”

Lao He wisely didn’t follow the teachers’ contingent to bask in the sun on the rostrum. After handing out the homework sheets, he mixed with the students. Whenever he found a student who was holding a delicious snack in hand, he would go over with his hands behind his back to educate them.

“It’s not delicious, it’s not delicious!” Yao Qiang didn’t hear the people around him alerting that the police is here, he quickly woke up and hid the rest of the spicy sticks behind him, “Really, it’s not delicious at all.”

Lao He was a little disappointed, and sat down next to him: “Our grades are almost ready. If everyone is okay, let’s talk about homework and monthly exams tonight…”

Yu Sheng’s and Jin Linkun’s scores have been hung up for a long time. Even if only the first few papers are marked first, the scores are mostly set these past few days, but they haven’t been notified yet.

As soon as Lao He finished speaking, a group of students who had finally relaxed a little because of the sports meeting quickly sounded the alarm.

Class monitor: “No, no, Lao He, we don’t really want to talk about this.”

Sports Committee: “The sports meeting is not over yet, we need a passionate and uplifting outlook to meet the upcoming test and win glory for the class.”

The school committee: “No matter how far we run, the monk can’t run away from the temple. Comrade Jianguo, please let us live for a few more days.”

Duan Lei rushed over, shaking Yao Qiang’s shoulders desperately: “Let! Him! Eat! Ah!!”

Lao He got the spicy strips, satisfied to stop beating the students mentally, and wandered to the front row to observe why so many girls he had never seen before went to their class to ask for directions.

After the last teacher finished reading the speech, the opening ceremony of the first day of the sports meeting finally came to a successful conclusion.

The classmates in the field dispersed, and Class 7 purposely regrouped in the class to formally select the broadcast exercises suitable for the competition.

Time is tight and tasks are heavy, so it’s better to dance the familiar routine. If they want to find a new one, they must decide which routine to dance as soon as possible and start practising immediately.

“Military boxing? Ballroom dancing?” The sports committee flipped through the videos on his phone, “This doesn’t look difficult, can you guys hug each others’ waist, and can you guys hold hands and do a twirl?”

Class 7 was silent: “…”

“Take a look at the male-female ratio in our class.” Their class assistant put his shoulders on him, “then you know the answer to your question.”

The sports committee didn’t believe that they can’t: “Isn’t it just because there are too many boys, can’t we overcome it? It just so happens that our class’s literary and art committee leader and Sheng-ge are leading the exercises together…”

Sheng-ge’s family wanted to wait for Sheng-ge to go home together, and did not participate in the discussion. The two of them screened the contents of exercises that were slightly readable by the window together.

Duan Lei set up the awning and glanced over there, patted the sports committee on the head: “Look.”

The sports committee turned around: “What are you looking at?”

Duan Lei: “Let’s take a look at who is going to kill you, and later when we beg you not to die in our arms, remember to tell us what his last name is.”

“…”

A group of people discussed for a long time, but failed to find any valuable exercises to do except for ones that hurt each other.

In the end, it was Cen Rui and the others who helped out and picked out a set of exercises that looked much more normal and were very easy to learn.

“What’s it called?” The class monitor’s eyes were shining brightly, and he wrote it down and prepared to announce, “The young eagles take off? Dancing youth? The vitality of youth? The sun that rises…”

Yu Sheng put down his phone: “The ninth set of radio gymnastics.”

___

“It’s like this.” The school committee put his arm around the monitor’s shoulders and comforted him, “Think about it, the more unknown the secret manual, the more likely it has unimaginable power.”

Although the ninth set of radio gymnastics sounds very simple, it is indeed far superior to the other flashy sets in terms of the normality of movements, the difficulty of mastering and proficiency.

Although they have been doing these exercises for two years, the students who stretch their arms and kick casually on the field every day can learn this set of exercises even faster than the original version.

The class monitor believed that this secret must not be easily spread to the outside world, and led the students to move the desks and  chairs to the corners, close the front and back doors, paste the windows with waste papers, and practised the ninth set of secret cheats.

In a 6×6 phalanx*, it is not necessary for everyone to be on the field. After Duan Lei stepped on the foot of the classmate on the right for the fifth time, he was thrown out of the array and had to stand guard at the back door.

Jin Linkun was also sitting in the last row. He was writing and drawing something on a piece of paper. When he saw a classmate who had a good relationship with his child approaching, he raised his head and greeted him in a friendly manner.

Sitting on the side, Duan Lei couldn’t help but glance at the piece of paper that Jin Linkun had spread on the table, then lowered his voice and approached: “Mr. Jin, are you drawing?”

Jin Linkun erased some miscellaneous lines with an eraser, and blew on the end of the eraser: “Can you see what it is?”

“I can see it, I can see it.”

Duan Lei has always admired him, and nodded quickly: “What is this, a crocodile? It’s really well drawn, but the front legs are a little short…”

Jin Linkun: “…”

Jin Linkun erased the tyrannosaurus rex that had been drawn all afternoon: “In a few days, do you guys have any plans?”

“What plan do we have?” Duan Lei was at a loss, “Just… to meet the monthly exam results head on and prepare to be beaten?”

The results are announced on the last day of the sports meeting, and the days of hard work are almost over. They have already arranged the distribution of the inheritance, and whoever dies heroically at that time will force the inheritor to help finish the leftover exercise book and the 11 homeworks even if they need to be forced.

The substitute teacher usually doesn’t ask them such questions. Duan Lei guessed that Yu Sheng had something to do: “Does Sheng-ge need any help? We are quite free, so just call us if you need anything, and we should be able to help…”

Jin Linkun froze for a moment, then shook his head: “It’s nothing.”

The students in Class 7 have a good relationship. If they know the date, even if it was a holiday, they will definitely celebrate Yu Sheng’s birthday.

It is only that Yu Sheng didn’t say it.

Jin Linkun didn’t speak in a hurry, chatted with him casually, put down his pen and looked up to watch his child doing exercises.

The boy has a beautiful body, even if he just raises his arms casually and does upper body exercises, his posture is charming and neat.

Nothing seems to be able to hide his bright and youthful spirit.

Probably feeling a little hot, Yu Sheng took off his coat and put it on the back of a chair beside him.

Not to mention the girls from the outside class, but even if the girls in Class 7 are used to seeing it. At this moment, several of them blushed and whispered, and some secretly took out their mobile phones and took several pictures.

Duan Lei sat for a while, and suddenly remembered something: “By the way, Mr. Jin, what are you doing these days?”

“I have something to do on the 7th.” Jin Linkun thought he wanted to do make-up lessons, “What’s wrong?”

“It’s just that–“

Duan Lei felt that this was a bit inappropriate to say. After seeing the way the 2 of them sat together at that time, he felt that he could only say this to the person in front of him: “If you have nothing to do, can you… accompany Sheng-ge?”

Every year in no. 3 high school, there is a sports meeting before the 11th. Duan Lei still remembers that at the sports meeting last year, Yu Sheng signed up for both 3,000 metres and 5,000 metres.

It wasn’t long before they were divided into classes, and everyone hadn’t gotten to know each other well. The sports committee didn’t dare to talk to the famous No. 3 school bully, so he bit the bullet and asked him tremblingly, “Are you too tired? It might be a bit tiring to run both 3,000 and 5,000 metres…”

Yu Sheng didn’t speak, it was Lao He who came over with a smile and pressed his shoulder: “Run if you want, teacher will cheer you on.”

Later, Yu Sheng ran both and achieved first and second respectively. Lao He also fulfilled his promise and stood by the side of the field to cheer him on until he crossed the line.

5,000 metres was the last competition of the day, and there were not many spectators left on the sidelines.

When Duan Lei was walking back with his things, he saw Yu Sheng lying on the track with his arms under his head in a daze.

For the first time, Lao He looked very serious, sitting next to him, pressing onto his shoulders, and chatting with him.

“I don’t know why.” Duan Lei rubbed the back of his head, “I just feel that Sheng-ge doesn’t seem to be in a good mood every time this happens.”

He seemed to be waiting for someone.

That kind of feeling is too obvious. At the last sports meeting, class 7 was almost familiar with one another. At the end of the National Day holiday, they pulled Yu Sheng out to play games, but someone knocked over and pulled out the charging cable of Yu Sheng’s phone. It automatically shuts off for a few hours without power.

“It’s the first time I’ve seen him lose his temper.”

Duan Lei still remembers the situation at that time: “It can’t be called getting angry… He didn’t scold us, and he didn’t do anything, just—it was the first time I felt that I might be so close to death.”

Later, the battery was charged, the phone was turned on again, and there was no missed news.

Yu Sheng went out to cool off by himself, he almost recovered when he came back. He also brought them two cans of beer.

___

It seems that everything has passed, and it seems that nothing has happened since then.

The first practice of the ninth set of exercises was almost over. Duan Lei was carried over to help restore the tables and chairs, bid farewell to Jin Linkun, and diligently joined the class labour.

After being reminded by Duan Lei, Jin Linkun began to pay attention to Yu Sheng’s mobile phone consciously or unconsciously.

He probably guessed what Yu Sheng was waiting for, and he didn’t intend to forcibly interfere with Yu Sheng’s habit, and even helped bring a huge power bank the next day.

The weight is full, and it is said that it is enough to charge the mobile phone ten times in a row.

In the end, because Yu Sheng thought it was too heavy, he threw the phone into Jin Linkun’s arms.

“Help me hold it, heavy.”

Yu Sheng pulled up his cuffs, took the javelin and shook it, found a good one and tried throwing it a few times: “Actually, the view here is not the best.”

Jin Linkun purposely found a place on the edge of the javelin field, and was curious: “Isn’t it?”

“No.” Yu Sheng held the chosen javelin in his hand and went to the referee to report his number. “The rostrum is more effective.”

“…” Jin Linkun was tortured when he entered the school today, and he didn’t really want to show up on the rostrum for the time being: “I think if I appear in front of your principal again, he may ask me to be in charge of measuring the distance of the javelin thrown.”

In semi-sports high schools, boys generally have great strength. There may not be many who can throw the discus and javelin, but there are definitely not a few people who can turn these two items into lethal weapons. Good referees have already put their lives in danger.

Yu Sheng raised his head, glanced at a few people sitting on the sidelines trembling with their heads in their helmets, couldn’t help but smile, and stuffed the number bid into his hands.

3721, Yu Sheng.

The unusually strong and unrestrained font fell on it, and he didn’t know how it was kept, without even a crease.

Jin Linkun carefully flattened the number bib, pulled out the pin, and pinned it behind his back: “Do you want to refuel?”

“No need.” Yu Sheng turned his back to him, “Be careful, don’t clip me.”

His kid’s requirements for him were really low. Looking at Yu Sheng who kept turning his head, Jin Linkun couldn’t help raising his hand to hold his head, and turned him back: “I won’t clip you, you don’t believe me?”

Yu Sheng laughed and said nothing.

The boy didn’t always smile, but now he was wearing a neat sportswear, his raised eyebrows were reflected in the bright sunlight, and his whole body looked soft.

The closer it was to his birthday, the more Jin Linkun couldn’t help thinking about his family. His chest tightened unconsciously, as he was about to rub his hair, Yu Sheng had already grabbed his half-raised hand and tugged him to the sidelines.

They were still dawdling on the sidelines, and the inspections over there had ended, and some people began to officially throw their javelins.

Yu Sheng recounted how Jin Linkun had been acting for the past two days, and finally almost guessed what was going on when Jin Linkun conjured up a power bank that could only be held with two hands.

“Okay, I won’t wait anymore.”

He stood on the sidelines with Jin Linkun for a while, turned his head and smiled: “This year is different, I’m a bit busy, I don’t have time to wait.”

Busy with study, practice, and competitions.

Busy talking to this person, studying with this person, doing a lot of stupid and inexplicable things with this person.

Busy running forward, advancing without stopping.

“So you don’t believe me?” Yu Sheng bumped his arm, walked forward according to the sequence, and prepared, “I’ll show you something awesome.”

Jin Linkun’s heart beat slightly faster, and he looked up at Yu Sheng.

Yu Sheng held the javelin, weighed it twice in his hand, ran forward, turned his body sideways and threw the javelin violently.

The boy’s eyes were clear and bright, and the strength accumulated in his shoulders burst out.

The javelin drew an arc, pierced through the air and went straight up, crossed the entire field, and firmly landed on the edge of the bright red runway on the other side.

___

This year’s javelin throw competition has attracted a lot of attention from the audience.

Yu Sheng usually wears school uniform, either in the classroom or directly from school to go home, there are not many entertainment activities except for fighting and helping out, he is not a very familiar face in No. 3 High School.

At least compared with the popularity of his name, it is much worse.

Yesterday, quite a few people asked about their class, and today more people came to ask, one after another: “Who led your class? Does he have WeChat?”

“Is he an art student? Does he need one-on-one supplementary lessons? It’s just a simple and pure learning relationship.”

“What hobbies does he usually have? Does he like watching movies?”

“Give me a call, please, two roast sausages, I promise I will not circulate it…”

Duan Lei quickly replied to the messages, swallowed by the temptation of the two roast sausages, and wanted to ask Sheng-ge if he could pass his phone number, but when he turned his head and saw the two men who had finished the javelin competition, they sat down together again.

The boy was tall and long-legged, and it was too crowded to sit in the front row, so he sat in the last row.

The substitute teacher held Yu Sheng’s shoulders and bowed his head while talking, holding a few bags of potato chips patiently and was promoting the different flavoured chips to him.

Their Sheng-ge was drawing something on paper, and he was so impatient with the substitute teachers talks, he opened his mouth to grab the potato chips, and then pulled down the zipper of the jacket that the substitute teacher had meticulously pulled up.

“…”

Duan Lei withdrew his gaze, stuffed half of roast sausages into his mouth, chewed and replied: I’m sorry, Sheng-ge doesn’t have a phone, he doesn’t have WeChat, he doesn’t have hobbies, and maybe he doesn’t need a girlfriend…
