47. Do you really think I can’t catch up to you?

Yu Sheng was actually a liberal arts student.

The one who was most stimulated by this incident was undoubtedly Liang Yifan, a liberal arts student who once became complacent because Kunshen was going to take the college entrance examination, happily sympathised with Group 7 science students.

“Unreasonable, Sheng-ge plays Tetris so well, and he can even solve the Rubik’s Cube.”

All the way until the night’s self-study, Liang Yifan was still depressed, unable to accept the cruel reality: “Why are you a liberal arts student?”

Ding Zhengjiao did not agree with his fixation: “Liberal arts and science students are all the same, and everyone can be excellent.”

“But only the excellence of science students can make me happy.” Liang Yifan said bluntly, “When I think that I will sit in the same examination room as Sheng-ge and do the same set of papers, I feel serious pressure.”

Everyone empathised with him. Cen Rui shook his maraca and patted him on the shoulder: “Think on the bright side, we can skip their rankings and compete directly for our precious second place.”

“…”

In front of the two academic overlords who are about to take the college entrance examination next year, the students of arts and sciences in Group 7 found comfort in each other, held hands and made peace.

Neither Jin Linkun nor Yu Sheng came to the evening self-study, and the last row was empty.

Ding Zhengjiao couldn’t let go, and turned his head frequently: “Does anyone know what  Kunshen is doing? Is Sheng-ge accompanying him?”

“At least Sheng-ge was with him when we left the Internet cafe.”

Liang Yifan glanced at the silent mobile phone, and was no longer as sure as usual: “I’m not so sure now, it depends on how Sheng-ge’s is feeling. To be honest, if I was pressed on the sofa and listened to the physics competition for three hours. There is a high probability that I will flip out.”

Cen Rui deeply felt the same way: “Thinking back, I think the fact that Sheng-ge held on until we came. He really loves Kunshen.”

___

“It should be no problem?”

Xia Junhua had been feeling extremely guilty about pulling Group 7 to the lecture, so he put down his pen and looked back: “I think no matter what happened, the two of them must be together…”

After he finished speaking, the surroundings fell silent.

Xia Junhua quickly shut up, thinking that it was the discipline officer who came over and was worried for a while before he realised that no one came, he asked, “What are you doing?”

“It’s not easy.” Liang Yifan patted him on the shoulder, “Monitor, have you finally realised?”

Cen Rui then felt relieved: “Even Lao Xia can tell, they must be fine… That’s all right, all right, hurry up and read, maybe Kunshen and Sheng-ge are also studying hard somewhere.”

The third year of high school is getting closer day by day, everyone already has a sense of urgency, the study room has returned to silence, and the sound of flipping books has resumed.

Yu Sheng was not studying.

Jin Linkun said that he wanted to go out for a walk, but he didn’t think much about it, and asked Group 7 to bring their school bags back, and then accompanied him out of the Internet cafe.

As a result, this person who said he wanted to walk, really purely wanted to stroll.

The street lights were on, and the sky was already dark, replaced by starlight.

Jin Linkun couldn’t move anymore, so he sat down on the side of the road, relaxed, and leaned back against the tree trunk.

There are vending machines on the side of the road. Yu Sheng searched around, but couldn’t find a bottle with a cartoon on it*, so he reluctantly bought a bottle of milk and returned.

*(their fav brand of milk has a cartoon on the packaging)

Jin Linkun caught the bottle that was thrown and took two gulps, opening his mouth to speak. Yu Sheng had already sat down beside him: “You’re welcome.”

“…” Jin Linkun smiled and rubbed his head: “I just want to say, this is also delicious.”

The man was getting better and better at touching his head. Yu Sheng glanced at him and didn’t move. He turned on his phone and searched where they were.

It was rare for Yu Sheng not to push his hand away, and Jin Linkun’s hand unconsciously paused for a while longer on the short hair at the back of his neck, and looked down at him.

The air conditioner in the auditorium was fully turned on, Yu Sheng was annoyed by his constant nagging, so he had put on a sportswear jacket.

He has a very regular habit of dressing, and the zipper is meticulously pulled to the top. With his head lowered like this, half of his face is buried in the raised neckline.

Jin Linkun looked carefully for a while, and found that there was an inconspicuous scar on the side of his ear.

___

Yu Sheng shivered, and slapped his wandering hands away: “What are you doing?”

“What happened?” Jin Linkun was very persistent. After being slapped away, he stretched out again and touched the scar, “Here.”

There were many fights in the third middle school, and it was inevitable to get hurt. The job of school bully is very demanding, and there are not many scars on his body, so it is difficult to hold on to the position.

It happened too many times, Yu Sheng was too lazy to recall this specific event so he unfolded his sleeve while saying: “I forgot.”

Jin Linkun still wanted to take a closer look, but accidentally touched his ear again. In a blink of an eye, his wrist was firmly clamped, and he was pushed back hard.

___

Ears will turn red if you touch them.

Jin Linkun rubbed the tip of his nose, tried his best to control his thoughts, temporarily put aside the word cute, and tried his best to keep his right hand: “Friend, calm down, I won’t touch it—”

Yu Sheng only used a bit of his strength behind that push, glanced at him, and let go.

The arms of the two people were entangled together, and it was not easy to get around. Jin Linkun pulled his arm out from the crook of his elbow, and was about to bring it closer to himself, but found that there was still a loose hold on his wrist.

The night is cooler than the day, and the palms are also cooler than usual. Yu Sheng held him steadily, curled his fingers and did not let go.

Jin Linkun watched his movements, and tentatively asked, “What’s wrong?”

Yu Sheng raised his head and looked into his eyes: “Ge, are you feeling better?”

Jin Linkun opened his mouth slightly, but was unable to speak immediately.

Am I alright now? Actually I’m already alright.

People have to grow up and live their lives. Whether they want to or not, they have to keep moving forward.

It has been a year, and there is no hardship that cannot be overcome.

But suddenly there was someone who accompanied him to vent, helped him when he felt uncomfortable, and looked at him with those sincere eyes.

All of a sudden, the emotions that had faded earlier surged up unreasonably, piled up in his chest, and the pressure was painful.

Jin Linkun met his gaze, fell silent, took off his glasses, rubbed his eyes carelessly, and put them back on.

“…much better, almost all better.”

He raised his hand, put it on Yu Sheng’s shoulder, and rested his forehead on his shoulder: “Really, If you don’t believe, you—”

Yu Sheng: “I believe it.”

Jin Linkun was startled.

“I believe it.” Yu Sheng turned sideways, “How can it be all better?”

The boy’s breath suddenly came over him.

Impossible to ignore, the fresh breath met him without retreating an inch.

Jin Linkun’s chest thudded loudly unexpectedly.

The two of them were so close that he could almost see the tip of Yu Sheng’s eyelashes clearly.

Jin Linkun thought for a moment, before he spoke cautiously: “Hug——sleep?”

Yu Sheng: “…”

___

“Friend, friend.”

Jin Linkun held the half-drunk bottle of milk, got up and hurried to catch up: “Let me try it, I can explain.”

It was almost midnight, and the road was so quiet that it was hard to see a car. The bustling streets during the day are empty, and the lights of the street lamps are intertwined, casting deep and shallow shadows.

Standing under the streetlamp, Yu Sheng was dragged by him and listened to the scientific theory about hugging for emotional comfort for ten minutes.

“…It’s probably like this. The papers have their sources, and I can go back and find them for you.”

Jin Linkun cleared his throat and realised that he had been holding onto his hand, and moved his fingertips, trying to let go, but he couldn’t move.

He paused, and his Adam’s apple moved up and down slightly: “Yu Sheng——”

Yu Sheng: “You’ll feel better if I hug you?”

He asked too seriously, Jin Linkun’s heart beat a little faster for no reason, and he couldn’t speak immediately.

Yu Sheng had already dragged him back.

After subconsciously walking a few steps being pulled along by Yu Sheng, Jin Linkun heard his own voice ask: “Where are we going?”

“Go back and sleep.” Yu Sheng tugged at him, “I don’t lose a piece of meat if I give you a hug.”

In all fairness, Yu Sheng doesn’t really believe in his theory.

But it cannot be denied that during those two nights, he did sleep better than usual, without having those messy dreams.

And the person who usually had a little smile on his face, who seemed to be able to solve any problem in three seconds, suddenly began to stutter and memorise documents. For some reason, he seemed a little less needy than usual.

The whole journey was exhausting enough, and Yu Sheng didn’t intend to go back, so he took out his phone and prepared to take a taxi.

Probably because it was really too late, there was no driver to take the order, and there were no taxis on the road.

Jin Linkun pulled him to the side of the road and stood: “Let’s… walk back then?”

Yu Sheng raised his head and glanced at him, without saying a word. A message from Liang Yifan jumped out first.

Stimulated by Sheng-ge saying that he was a liberal arts student, classmate Liang Yifan squatted in the exclusive bathroom of Group 7’s to memorise his materials until midnight, packed up his things and prepared to go back to the dormitory, but found that no one had returned from their dormitory.

Knowing that these people might be worried, Yu Sheng replied that they are all right, and sent him a location.

Liang Yifan on the other side was silent for a long time, and replied tremblingly:  Sheng-ge… did you run the marathon with Kunshen?

“…” Yu Sheng looked at the distance on the map, calmed down for a while, and put away his phone: “Let’s find a place to stay overnight.”

They were still holding each other’s hands tightly, Jin Linkun still hadn’t recovered, and raised his head: “Huh?”

Liang Yifan is a good support.

Jin Linkun handed his ID card to the front desk of the hotel for registration, and entered the elevator with his roommates. For some reason, he couldn’t resist sending Liang Yifan a red envelope.

Liang Yifan was flattered:  Kunshen, did you win the race?

Liang Yifan: It’s good to run to relieve some of those emotions, let those idiots die! You are the best! You are Kunshen!!

___

Not quite understanding what he was talking about, Jin Linkun found the room number, swiped the door with the room card.

The hotel’s facilities are quite good, business class, the room is covered with soft and hard carpets, a sofa desk, and a very spacious double bed.

“There is no standard room.” Jin Linkun touched the tip of his nose and explained, “Only this…”

Yu Sheng didn’t care, took off his coat and hung it up, went to the bathroom to wash up: “I’ll be quick. You can take a break first.”

After walking several miles, Yu Sheng was already feeling tired at the moment, so he simply rushed to wipe off the sweat on his body, and prepared to pack up his things to make room for them.

Putting on his clothes and leaving the bathroom, Jin Linkun was leaning on the sofa, probably also sleepy, dozing off with his head down.

Sitting and sleeping like this would cause a stiff neck, Yu Sheng wiped his hair and went over, planning to carry him to wash up and sleep as soon as possible.

A slight touch of his arm on the armrest and the hand which had been slack reached up and grabbed his.

Jin Linkun opened his eyes, the eyes behind the lenses were still a little dizzy, his chest heaved slightly, he probably just had a dream and hadn’t woken up yet.

Yu Sheng touched his pulse, wanting him to adjust first, but the force on his wrist suddenly tightened: “Yu Sheng.”

His voice was a little hoarse, Yu Sheng frowned, and leaned down: “What’s wrong?”

Jin Linkun’s throat moved, and after a long silence, he said, “Which university are you going to?”

Yu Sheng: “…”

Did this person have a nightmare that he abandoned the college entrance examination?

There is still a year left, and he probably knows himself well, but he has no habit of ditching exams, so he sat down on the sofa: “Whichever university I can get into, let’s wait for the results first. Why?”

“Which university are you going to go to, tell me when the time comes.”

Jin Linkun didn’t know what he wanted to say, so he lowered his gaze: “I’ll calculate it perfectly, let’s go to a university…”

Others don’t understand, the two of them have lived in the same dormitory for so long, and he already knows more or less about Yu Sheng’s situation.

Yu Sheng didn’t deliberately focus on other subjects, so forget about other subjects. His English is really bad. Every time the scope of review involves English, he suffers from insomnia for a long time at night.

He laid on the bed several times, listening to the people on the other side of the dormitory waking up, and sometimes he even had to wait until the sky was getting brighter for his breathing to gradually become even.

In another year, Yu Sheng’s remaining subjects will not be a problem. Even if he gives up English, he will probably be in the top 2 range. No matter which school Yu Sheng chooses, he can go there——

Before he could calculate the most suitable score range in his mind, Yu Sheng had already stood up and slapped his hands away.

“Save it.”

Yu Sheng’s tone was flat, and he looked down at him: “No need.”

Jin Linkun withdrew his arm, his throat was a little dry, he opened his mouth: “Yu Sheng.”

“You fucking listen.”

After finally suppressing the anger, Yu Sheng closed his eyes: “Just do your very best in the exams, surpass them with all the marks you can obtain.”

The young man’s figure is sharp, and he can’t hold back his determination. He looks so proud that Jin Linkun’s chest aches: “There is still one year, such a long time, do you think I can’t catch up with you?”

Jin Linkun raised his head, his eyes behind the lenses widened slightly, burning for no reason.

Yu Sheng didn’t want to beat him at this moment, so he took a deep breath, turned around to pack his things, and was suddenly hugged tightly.

Before he could react, warmth had already seeped in through the shirt behind him.

Yu Sheng paused slightly, his shoulders tensed silently.

The arms stretched across his chest and shoulders trembled slightly. Yu Sheng stood there for a while, then pulled him back: “What are you doing, does it excite you that I’m studying hard?”

“……Yes.”

Jin Linkun laughed lightly and took a breath: “I’m so excited, I can’t hold back.”

Yu Sheng twitched the corner of his mouth, didn’t speak, and gently held his hand.

When Jin Linkun spoke, his tone was quite serious, but Yu Sheng knew that this idiot who was able to stand up to those trash who framed him at the beginning, and who could in turn persuade him not to be impulsive, hug him and talk well, had actually been thinking about this for a long time.

___

Then he let himself be dragged for twenty kilometres without finding a chance.

Yu Sheng let him lean against his shoulders and patted his arm.

Jin Linkun cleared his throat and forced a voice: “Friend——”

“Glasses.” Yu Sheng spread out his palms and waited for him, “Aren’t you panicking?”

The breath behind him paused, a little smile shook his chest slightly, and fell on his back.

Jin Linkun took off his glasses, put them in his palm, closed his eyes and leaned against him.

It took a long time to take a bath, and when Jin Linkun came out of the bathroom, Yu Sheng had already fallen asleep.

The boy was wrapped in a quilt, his thick eyelashes leaving a soft shadow. Half of his face was buried in the pillow, and his hair was still a little damp.

Jin Linkun turned off the overhead light, lay down with light movements, and carefully hugged him into his arms.

Yu Sheng was so sleepy, he opened his eyes to look at him in a daze, his brows were frowned by the light at the bedside, and he buried himself in the darkness unconsciously.

Jin Linkun breathed slightly, turned sideways to block the light for him, and turned off the bedside lamp.

Jin Linkun lay down for a while, but still couldn’t fall asleep, so he picked up his phone and sent a message to Liang Yifan: Are you there?

Liang Yifan was about to go to sleep, when he received his message, he immediately sent a concerned reply: Yes!  Kunshen, how are you doing?

Jin Linkun: My roommate needs to study hard.

Liang Yifan: …Huh?

Jin Linkun: He will be very good. I think he can win the provincial championship.

Liang Yifan: …

Liang Yifan:  Kunshen, let me talk first, how do you feel now, are you in a good state?

The emotions in his chest had already dissipated, and Jin Linkun held his mobile phone and returned after a while: Okay, thank you.

He knew who they were talking about way before he left the auditorium. He left the auditorium because he didn’t feel the need to listen any more. He never thought that the entire Group 7 would stand by his side no matter what.

Originally making friends was just to get his roommates to praise him. When he saw Group 7 coming out of the auditorium one by one, and even Lao Wan strolling out leisurely, he realised that in fact, one will meet many people in one’s life.

Whether it’s good or bad, happy or unhappy things happen, when you turn a corner, the new people you meet again will never be the same as the last time.

Jin Linkun held his mobile phone for a while, typed a serious thank you, and clicked send.

There is a red circle arrow in front of the bubble, followed by a light grey prompt popping up.

[The message was sent, but was rejected by the other party.]
