57. I’ve finished writing it……So read it out for me.

His little friend is actually so decisive.

Jin Linkun was stunned for a long time at the hand that was thrown back, and couldn’t help being sad for a while, then he was coaxed by the handful of candies stuffed into his hand by his roommate, and happily peeled off one and stuffed it into his mouth.

The venue for the bonfire party was in the large playground on the edge of the campus, and many people had already arrived.

“Damn, is it so environmentally friendly now?”

Xia Junhua couldn’t help but widen his eyes, looking at the red cloth that was blown wildly by the electric blower, “Bonfire—a party?”

“Understandable, N University does not allow open flames, and their school buildings are culturally protected buildings.”

Ding Zhengjiao was already surprised when he came to step on the site before, and he comforted his classmates: “The degree of simulation is quite high. If we sit in a circle, the effect is the same…”

Cen Rui held up the camera and followed all the way, feeling extremely heartbroken: “It’s not the same at all, I have already planned for everyone to barbecue together!”

“Barbecue at the bonfire, do you hug and bid farewell to each other while holding meat skewers?”

Liang Yifan shook his hands twice in front of the camera, and patted him on the shoulder: “Be more mature, night elf, this is the happiest summer camp I have ever attended, and I don’t want it to become the craziest one in my memory.”

A group of people walked towards the bonfire party together, and Lao Wan was already waiting by the “fire” of group 7, looking a bit lost.

The ground was empty, and there was no sign of delicious food at all.

Under the strong encouragement of a group of people, Cen Rui leaned over and asked the deputy team leader Kong Jiahe: “Lao Kong, where is the delicious food?”

Teacher Wan didn’t say no, so Kong Jiahe reported truthfully: “The teacher thought we were at a real bonfire party, and specially ordered raw meat and vegetable skewers, as well as sauces…”

Liang Yifan: “…”

Ding Zhengjiao: “…”

Cen Rui and the mature teacher Wan have a common language, and couldn’t help standing up: “That’s right! How about we secretly light a fire—”

In the middle of speaking, the vice principal of N University happened to pass by behind. Ding Zhengjiao and Xia Junhua had quick eyesight and quick hands, covered his mouth and pushed him down.

The dream of grilling meat skewers and singing songs failed to come true. In order to comfort Lao Wan, Group 7 specially pooled in money to order a big bag of barbecue.

A big bag of barbecue, a big bag of all kinds of drinks, and iced cola and beer as a bonus. As soon as they were placed on the plastic sheet, the Group 7 exploded with excitement.

A group of people were so hungry that they scrambled to gobble it up, and the atmosphere that was expected to be extremely sad was mostly faded.

Liang Yifan, as the student who didn’t want this summer camp to end the most, was the most active in grabbing, holding a bunch of roasted beef tendon in one hand.

Jin Linkun is tall and has a long arm, so he has an advantage in the activity of grabbing skewers. He fished out two bunches of Enokitake* and stuffed them into the hands of his roommates, while continuing to aim at the next target: “Friend, what do you want?”

Yu Sheng sat on the plastic sheet that had been laid out earlier, watching him busily grabbing food with a group of people, the corner of his mouth couldn’t help but twitch: “Beer.”

“…”

In order to retaliate against his roommate’s childish behaviour, Jin Linkun decided to grab two bottles of Shuang Wai Wai with cartoon puppies for him.

The crowd ate heartily. With a large spread of appetising meat and spicy spices in front of them, Group 7 clearly stood out from the rest of the other groups in the summer camp.

“This description is inappropriate.” Xia Junhua propped his chin and hit the nail on the head, “Strictly speaking, we are isolated.”

The positions of the groups that were originally evenly distributed changed dramatically. The fire piles near Group 7 were neatly removed, and there was not a single member of the other groups within a five-metre radius.

The three-hour cultural performance, plus the afternoon of the previous rehearsal, most people have been hungry since lunch until now. Now hooked by the seductive aroma, everyone’s mood to say goodbye to each other is completely gone, and their stomachs are screaming crazily.

___

“To be honest, I think the other groups don’t look at us right.”

With the meat skewers in his mouth, Cen Rui held up the camera to observe from a distance: “We have to be careful and protect our meat skewers, maybe they will be robbed in a while.”

“If you look carefully, you will find that we no longer have any meat skewers left.”

Liang Yifan was the first to finish eating and drinking. He collapsed on the grass and rubbed his stomach contentedly: “This is my favourite summer camp…”

Xia Junhua was a little taken aback by his inconsistency: “Don’t you think this is contradictory?”

“It’s not important.” Liang Yifan hiccupped, looked up at the stars with his arms under his head: “To be honest, I don’t have any other thoughts now except to stay here forever.”

His voice was not high, but the people around him could hear him clearly.

Cen Rui kept laughing and joking, holding up the camera to record this and that for a while, when he heard his words, he stopped in his footsteps, and his eyes suddenly turned red.

Holding a can of fruit beer, Ding Zhengjiao sat in a daze for a long time, then suddenly grabbed Kong Jiahe beside him, tears streaming down his face.

Lao Wan rubbed his head with each hand to comfort him. Kong Jiahe’s reaction was always slower than others. After rubbing his head for a long time, he suddenly reacted in a daze, opened his mouth, and looked up with red eyes: “Teacher Wan, do we need to go tomorrow?”

Lao Wan was in the same school as him, and patted his head lovingly: “Yes, and then I will go back to school the day after tomorrow to check your summer homework.”

“…”

The top student, Kong Jiahe, paused for a moment in sadness, then immediately lowered his head, and flipped through the homework catalogue for this summer vacation.

Seeing that the atmosphere was still unavoidably solemn, Lao Wan put down the roasted leeks in his hand and patted his hands lightly twice.

The other groups were famished with hunger. They had completed the farewell ceremony very neatly and flocked to the night market for food. Only three or two groups of bonfires were still lit.

The playground was much quieter than before, and the moonlight made the night slightly cooler.

Liang Yifan wiped his eyes vigorously, sat up, and listened carefully.

In the lens of the camera, all of the faces are still clean and young, and they are sitting very tightly.

Lao Wan sat up straight seriously: “As everyone already knows, our summer camp is coming to an end, and you are about to return to your respective schools to usher in your last year of high school life.”

After he finished his official speech, he looked at the red eyes of a group of students, and his expression softened: “Actually, when this summer camp started, I was still thinking about what kind of month I would give you.”

“The camp head said that we should urge everyone to experience the tense atmosphere of the third year of high school in advance, ignite the enthusiasm for sprinting ahead of everyone else, and make sufficient preparations for the college entrance examination one year later.”

Lao Wan smiled: “But then I found out that the boys in our group are all good boys, and they don’t need to be supervised except that they are a little scary when they study.”

The desk lamp incident at the beginning of the summer camp was widely circulated, and everyone’s impression is still very clear. Hearing what Lao Wan said, many people couldn’t help chuckling.

“Actually, we guessed it later.” Ding Zhengjiao rubbed his eyes vigorously, “The combination of work and rest that Kunshen said at that time must be your idea…”

“Do you know everything?” Jin Linkun couldn’t help looking at the roommate beside him, “Then why did everyone want to hit me?”

Yu Sheng said succinctly: “Because it has nothing to do with combining work and rest, everyone just wanted to beat you up.”

“…”

Seeing that the students were all laughing together again, Lao Wan couldn’t help but also laughed and nodded: “So then I thought, maybe what you need is not just study.”

“You may have to work very hard in the next period of time. Students who are recommended will have an interview before the exams, students who are competing must work hard, and students who are preparing for the college entrance examination must also start preparing for sprint review.”

“I think, maybe this month can add something different to your hard-working and difficult year.”

Lao Wan stroked the heads of the two boys next to him, and smiled: “This kind of thing may not be of great help to your grades—but next time, when you feel too hard and tired, or lost and lost your way, or feel like you’re about to collapse, you may think back to this month.”

“You are all good boys. But the better you are, the more pressure you have to bear and the more hard work you have to do.”

“At any time, as long as you need it, you can come back to find it.”

The night breeze is slightly cool, and it is quietly filled with starlight.

Nobody knows who was the first to choke up and choke up. The boys and girls who wanted to save face and had to secretly wipe their tears and eyes also cried out one after another.

There has been invisible pressure, the confusion and tension of the third year of high school, the countless sleepless nights of hard work to maintain their rankings, the expectations of parents and teachers, and their own ideals and stubbornness.

All the depression and uneasiness, tension and confusion turned into tears, which were vented out in one go.

Cry well, and then go back and continue to work hard, and continue to walk forward step by step.

Over the mountain, see the scenery you want to see, and grow into what you want to be.

That night, Group 7 was the last one to leave in the entire playground.

Lao Wan sent the students to the door of the dormitory, smiled and patted the shoulders one by one: “Okay, you are not allowed to cry anymore when you go back. Don’t think about the difficulties now. When you go to college and start your future life, you’ll look back at the college entrance examination and it’ll feel just like a previous life…”

The girl who was still wiping her tears sniffed and raised her head: “Teacher, is the future going to be very different from now?”

“It’s different.”

Lao Wan was very patient and smiled: “There are too many things to experience in life, and studying is just one of them.”

His voice was very soft, but he seemed extremely serious: “You have to keep going forward, you may encounter some new troubles, gain some new happiness, you may find the place you really want to stay, and meet someone you really like……”

He spoke in a leisurely manner, his eyes fell on a certain someone, and he laughed again: “Alright, now for the sake of your future to have thick hair, go back to sleep.”

A group of boys and girls with red eye circles brightened their eyes again, couldn’t help laughing together, rushed to wave to Lao Wan, and went upstairs to the dormitory together.

The door of their dormitory stood several other students who were waiting for their student books* to be written on.

*(idk how to say this but it could be a book that contains the well wishes of everyone in your class during graduating etc)

Jin Linkun dragged Yu Sheng to write the student book together. The calligraphy must be beautiful, and he wrote his wishes in cursive gracefully.

Everyone who was holding Kunshen’s handwriting found Yu Sheng again, and begged Sheng-ge to add a line of translation.

Yu Sheng was tired of writing, so he kicked his stool: “Can you write nicer?”

“Isn’t it pretty?”

Jin Linkun was still concentrating on his pen, and when he kicked him, he wrote a lot of words: “This is Zhang Xu’s cursive script*. I have practised it for a long time.”

*(famous calligrapher

, ref)

Yu Sheng directly handed over the student book in his hand: “What is this word?”

“…”

Jin Linkun touched the tip of his nose: “My friend, do you know everything else except this word?”

Cursive script pays attention to continuous strokes and doing whatever you want. Yu Sheng is used to the illustrations of this person’s stream of consciousness, and he can basically guess: “The journey of a thousand miles, limitless something future? Journey or process?”

Jin Linkun: “Journey.”

Yu Sheng frowned: “Where’s the J then?”*

*(okay this is pretty difficult to explain. In chinese, Yu Sheng asked whether the word is 程 or 途, if you look closely as the left side of each character, the first character has 禾 character whereas the second character has 辶 character, this character is commonly known as 走之旁, which is what Yu Sheng was asking about)

Jin Linkun wrapped his arms around his shoulders, leaned over, and drew a brush stroke underneath with concentration.

___

The students who were imbued with the spirit of learning gods all received the cursive script that only Kunshen could recognize.

The student books of Group 7 were at the end, and both of them wrote seriously. Jin Linkun wrote a lot for everyone, and some of them even attached extra notes.

Yu Sheng finished writing here for a long time, took a shower and came out, seeing him still immersed in his struggle, couldn’t help but go over and read: “Are you writing a love letter?”

“No way.” Jin Linkun was dumbfounded, and made a typo, “If I want to write a love letter, I will write it for you.”

Group 7 gets along day and night, almost everyone has come to ask questions, and he knows most of the directions that other people are good at and not good at. Suggesting some suggestions on the most suitable direction of effort to improve grades in the next few months can also save a lot of time wasted in going astray.

Jin Linkun was ticking the checkmark against the name of a person, and once again his words jumped out before his reason. When he realised that the dormitory seemed to be extremely quiet after he had finished speaking.

His pen paused unconsciously, his throat moved slightly, and his heart beat suddenly as fast as a drum.

Yu Sheng was standing right behind him, very close. His shadow was casted on his desk, and he could even feel the clean aura on the young man.

Jin Linkun held the pen, opened his mouth, but couldn’t speak immediately.

In fact, it is not difficult to explain, joking, just say you are joking, no matter what you say, you can just say it’s a joke.

But he can’t seem to do it no matter what.

Thoughts that have been suppressed countless times, every time they are suppressed, they will be more turbulent than the last time, and it is more difficult to control them.

Jin Linkun lowered his head, looked at Yu Sheng’s shadow on the table, and counted his own heartbeat.

He felt as though he was a little out of breath.

___

He doesn’t know if his roommate is willing to give him artificial respiration if he can’t breathe.

The more nervous you are, the more active your thoughts are, and you don’t know where your thoughts are flying away for a moment. Jin Linkun tried his best to gather his thoughts, his shoulders tensed with difficulty, and he wanted to turn around, but he couldn’t move for some reason.

Only before entering the dormitory door, Lao Wan’s phrase “find a place where you really want to stay and meet someone you really like” repeated in your mind over and over again, and it became clearer and clearer over and over again.

That’s it.

Whether you admit it or not, if you think about it, what the consequences are, that’s all there is to it.

The dormitory was quiet for too long, Jin Linkun opened his mouth, trying to force himself to say something, but the shadow cast on the table suddenly moved.

Yu Sheng turned around and went back to his bed.

Jin Linkun slowly clenched the pen in his hand, closed his eyes, and suddenly began to regret.

What if Yu Sheng is unwilling?

Jin Linkun knew Yu Sheng’s character well. If Yu Sheng was unwilling, the only thing he could do was to scram as far as he could.

But his roommate’s house is so empty, if he is alone, how will he spend the next year?

If Yu Sheng doesn’t like it and sever their friendship, no matter what reasons he gives, he will try his best to find a way to touch that door, even if he has to squat at the door and guard it.

But now there is no chance.

If he doesn’t tell the truth, his little friend could still accept his company.

Now this choice is Yu Sheng’s to make.

The more Jin Linkun thought about it, the more he couldn’t sit still. He took a deep breath, and was trying to interrupt him with a joke, but Yu Sheng had already hurried back and slapped a blank piece of paper in front of him.

Jin Linkun was startled, hesitated for a while, and raised his head slightly.

“……You write.”

Yu Sheng’s ears turned red, as if the words were forced out of his throat, he loosened his clenched fist and threw a key on his desk.

“I can’t understand your broken characters. After you finish writing…read it to me.”

T/N: AHHHHHHHHHHH This chapter was a whole rollercoaster ride. It’s true that academics and everything are only so important early on. I’m way past high school and I could still remember feeling so stressed out about my grades in the past. But once you start finding jobs, people care a lot more about experiences and stuffs. I can’t even remember my grades from high school!

Honestly, I never had an academic life as fun as they have in this novel, neither did I made really special friendships and connections. So this chapter is actually one of my most favourites. What about you?
