Recap
Instead of asking how Yan Zhao came or what he meant by “for him,” Rong Yu simply asked, “Then will you leave?”
Yan Zhao lowered his eyes. “Of course not.”
However, he was uncertain if the law of God would relent.
A wave of panic washed over Rong Yu. He impulsively grabbed a delicate hairpin and severed a strand of his blue hair.
“Isn’t there a mortal saying that tying hair together creates an unbreakable bond?” Rong Yu, once dismissive of such superstitions, now found comfort in the idea. “I won’t see you as a mere bed anymore. I’ll consider you a friend, Sun. You won’t leave then, right?”
Yan Zhao chuckled helplessly. “Little Lotus, friends don’t tie their hair together. Mortals call it ‘love silk,’ a bond reserved for husbands and wives.”
“Then let’s be husband and wife.” Rong Yu turned and grasped Yan Zhao’s sleeve, looking up. “I don’t care if it’s as friends or husbands; we’ll be bound, and you can’t leave.”
“Little Lotus.” Yan Zhao gazed down at him. “Marriage isn’t casual. It requires mutual affection, a unique love. Do you understand?”
He doubted Rong Yu currently grasped such profound love. He suspected Rong Yu was merely using this as a desperate attempt to keep him close, driven by fear of loneliness rather than genuine love.
While Yan Zhao yearned for marriage with Rong Yu, he desired a bond built on true love, not panicked desperation.
His Rongrong deserved pride, not desperation.
“I understand, Sun,” Rong Yu said.
“I like you.”
Yan Zhao was taken aback.
“You think I’m clueless? I’m intelligent. I’ve witnessed countless love stories in this world. How could I not understand? I knew you wouldn’t leave, but I didn’t want to admit it. I wanted you to say it first. Confessions…should come from you, right?” Rong Yu’s lips twitched as he met Yan Zhao’s gaze.
He longed to hear those three words: “I love you.” The demon who had never understood love, now that he did, yearned to hear someone express their love for him.
He envied those who were loved and protected. They might be weak, but they possessed a love he had never known.
Secretly, he had fallen for a sun and desired that sun to love him just as deeply.
“I…” Yan Zhao started, overwhelmed with emotion. He longed to express his love but hesitated, fearing he might overwhelm Rong Yu.
“If I didn’t like you,” Rong Yu continued, “why would I spend thousands of years with you? I could be enjoying a carefree life in the Demon King’s Palace, but instead, I chose to wander the world with you. Initially, I saw it as a game, but it became so much more. You helped me fall in love with the world; did you really think I wouldn’t fall in love with you? Sun, I know you’ve thought about this too.”
“I care about many things in the world,” Rong Yu admitted, “but my feelings for you are different. The cat’s death saddened me, but knowing he’ll have a happy afterlife brings me peace. However, I won’t let go of your hand. You mustn’t leave me; if you do, I’ll chase you through every lifetime, in this world and the next. You can’t find happiness with anyone else, and I won’t let you be lonely. ” Rong Yu’s grip tightened on Yan Zhao’s sleeve, his words carrying immense weight. “I forbid you from living a life without me.”
His declaration wasn’t a plea but a command. It wasn’t “I don’t want you to live without me” but “I don’t allow you to live without me.” The Red Lotus Karmic Fire’s confession was a powerful, passionate declaration.
Rong Yu’s blood-red eyes, blazing with intensity, locked with Yan Zhao’s.
“You came for me,” he stated. “Do you like me?”
Yan Zhao’s golden eyes, filled with emotion, met Rong Yu’s. Without a word, he leaned in, sealing his answer with a kiss.
“Little Lotus,” Yan Zhao whispered against Rong Yu’s lips, “I don’t just like you. I love you.”
His love was boundless.
The mirror reflected their embrace, a passionate, intimate moment.
“Are we together now?” Rong Yu asked, a hint of vulnerability in his voice.
“Yes,” Yan Zhao replied, his voice filled with tenderness.
A smile graced Rong Yu’s lips. “Let’s get married,” he declared.
“Okay,” Yan Zhao agreed without hesitation.
Rong Yu’s smile deepened, and he pulled Yan Zhao in for another kiss. “Sun,” he whispered, “I love you too.”
_
The wedding preparations were in full swing. Technically, the Demon King was the groom, and the Sun God was the bride. This marriage was the Demon King marrying the Sun God—knowing Rong Yu’s temperament, it was clear he wouldn’t simply find a lover and relinquish his throne.
Yan Zhao didn’t care about these human formalities; as long as he was with Rong Yu, their roles were insignificant.
The devil’s extravagance was well-known, and such a grand event was no exception. The news spread far and wide, reaching every corner of the three realms.
People wondered about the origins of this Sun God, as no one had heard of him before. They only knew that one day, a golden sun appeared, bringing light to the world. Since then, the devil had ceased his troublesome ways.
The Emperor of Heaven even reported this anomaly to the Lord God. It was Yan Zhao who received the report and promptly replied, “Leave it alone.”
Confused, the Emperor of Heaven obeyed, though he couldn’t shake his unease. Why was the devil marrying this Sun God? According to the Heavenly Book, Rong Yu was destined to marry his daughter!
Rong Yu, as the Son of Destiny, held the fate of the world in his hands. The Heavenly Book foretold his rise to unparalleled power but assured that the princess of the Celestial Clan would temper his destructive tendencies. At this stage, the heavens could still suppress the Demon King, but they chose not to interfere, believing the princess would eventually win his heart.
If not for this prophecy, the heavens wouldn’t have tolerated the Demon King’s actions. However, the current situation deviated from the Heavenly Book’s script. The Demon King was marrying a man, a god of unknown origin, not the princess.
To defy the Heavenly Book was to defy the law, the foundation of the world’s order. The law established comprehensive rules, upheld by the guardian gods, ensuring peace and prosperity in the Great Thousand World.
Just as a country required laws, so did the world. If the gods were the enforcers, the law was the ultimate authority.
The Emperor of Heaven, deeply troubled, was on the verge of calling an emergency meeting to devise a plan to disrupt the wedding. While it was considered a grave sin to interfere with a marriage, he believed this union would spell doom for the world.
However, before the meeting could take place, he received another message from the Lord God: “Leave it alone.”
The Emperor was bewildered. Shouldn’t the Lord God be focused on the Myriad Gods Realm? Why was he so involved in their small world?
Since the Lord God insisted, the Emperor had no choice but to comply. He hoped for the best but couldn’t shake his anxiety.
Little did the Emperor know that it was the Lord God himself who was leading this transgression.
In a palace chamber, after issuing the order to disregard the matter, Yan Zhao knelt and coughed up blood. The law of God’s voice thundered in his mind: “You use your power for personal gain! Have you forgotten your responsibilities as the Lord of All Gods?”
The law’s fury was evident; it didn’t even address him with the customary “you,” a sign of its immense displeasure.
What Yan Zhao is doing now is akin to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court taking the lead in breaking the law and instructing law enforcement officers to disregard proper investigations.
Rong Yu’s destined path was with the Celestial Clan’s princess. If no alternative existed, the Space-Time Administration would dispatch divine envoys to intervene. The primary goal was to unite him with the princess. Their mission: uphold the law.
However, Yan Zhao has disrupted this destiny, severing any possibility of a union between Rong Yu and the princess. Both he and Rong Yu are defying the heavens. As the Lord of All Gods, who is bound to uphold destiny, his transgression is even more severe.
“I’ve long said I’m unworthy of being the Lord of All Gods.” Yan Zhao wiped the blood from his lips. “He vowed not to let go of my hand, not to let me love another. I won’t abandon him either. I won’t watch him with anyone else, even if it’s ‘destiny.’ Don’t even think about ruining our marriage.”
The Law of God retorted, “You have no marriage, only a doomed connection.”
“Whether it’s good or bad isn’t determined by God, but by us,” Yan Zhao countered, his golden eyes resolute.
The Law of God’s voice dripped with anger. “Have you considered that without you, he could be with the princess, he wouldn’t die, and the 6666 world wouldn’t collapse? Isn’t this current misery a direct result of your actions? Isn’t this a bad fate?”
“But when I met him, he had already defied fate to find me. How could I not love him? When I fell for him, his soul was already lost. How could I not save him?” Yan Zhao spoke slowly. “In the vast Great Thousand World, why does this cycle of reincarnation exist solely between us? This is our fate. Even if it’s a bad fate, it’s true love, just a difficult one. Is it possible that such love surpasses even that ordained by God?”
The Law of God’s voice boomed, “Return to the Myriad Gods Realm now, and you can continue as the Lord of All Gods. Persist in this obsession, and the backlash of your broken oath will torment you. Why do you cling to this path?”
Yan Zhao knew the answer. As the Lord of All Gods, he had sworn an oath to the law to eternally protect the Great Thousand World and uphold its order. Any violation would bring the most excruciating punishment. The Evil God and the Snow God were mere regents; he was the sole god recognized by the law.
He had broken the contract, violated his oath. He was undeniably at fault. The law’s punishment was just.
But when it came to Rong Yu, he could only face death without repentance.
The Law of God warned, “Defying the heavens will not end well. Do you understand the price of breaking your oath?”
“I fear neither mountains of swords nor seas of fire, nor do I regret dying. I only wish to spend this life with him until the world’s end, even if it means enduring the backlash’s pain for eternity.” Yan Zhao spoke calmly. “After this life, I will destroy my godhood and die to atone.”
Rong Yu had professed his love, but the soul lamp remained unlit.
Perhaps it was truly beyond rekindling.
He only hoped that in this life, the destruction and collapse of the 6666 world were still distant. He wanted to remain in the past, accompanying Rong Yu until the present before returning.
They had no future together, but perhaps this was another form of eternity.
The Law of God fell silent for a moment, then spoke coldly, “As you wish.”
_
The Law of God left this sentence and disappeared. Yan Zhao maintained his original posture for a while, then coughed up another mouthful of golden divine blood. The backlash from breaking the contract was severe. He feared that his divine power would remain weak for a considerable time, and the pain would only intensify. However, this suffering served as proof that Rong Yu truly loved him. His love for Rong Yu had come before the princess of the Celestial Clan, violating the law and resulting in this harsh backlash.
“Sun,” Rong Yu called from outside.
Yan Zhao quickly wiped away the blood on the ground and opened the door as if nothing had happened. “What’s wrong?” he asked.
“Can’t I come to see you if I have nothing to do?” Rong Yu stepped in and sat down on a chair. “But I’m actually looking for you to discuss the palace arrangements for our wedding day. It’s boring to decide alone; this is your home now too. You can offer some suggestions.”
The word “home” warmed Yan Zhao’s heart, easing the pain he felt. He smiled and asked, “What do you think, Little Lotus?”
“I think…” Rong Yu immediately began to chatter, detailing everything from the wedding attire to the lanterns hanging under the eaves. Finally, he asked, “What do you think?”
Yan Zhao nodded. “It’s all good. Let’s do as you say.”
“What do you mean by ‘do as I say’? I’m asking for your opinion…” Rong Yu complained.
“Little Lotus, here’s a gift for you.” Yan Zhao suddenly handed him a blood jade bracelet.
Rong Yu said disdainfully, “I have so much jewelry; I don’t know how many red bracelets I have. You’re not giving me anything new. It can’t even be ranked among my bracelets…”
“This is a token of love.”
Rong Yu immediately put on the bracelet. “It ranks first now.”
Yan Zhao couldn’t help but laugh.
The blood jade bracelet was the Red Gold Ring.
The first time he put the Red Gold Ring on Rong Yu’s wrist was for imprisonment. At that time, Rong Yu asked him to turn the gold ring into a blood jade bracelet and thanked him for the token of love.
He hadn’t understood then.
After going around and around, he was truly giving the Red Gold Ring as a token of love.
Accompanying the natal artifact as a token of love was like a god using his entire life to invest in this love that didn’t exist in destiny.
“I know you’re from another world; you shouldn’t have brought many things. You’re very poor in this world, and you can only afford a bracelet.” Rong Yu patted his shoulder comfortingly and said generously, “It’s okay; this king doesn’t dislike it. I have a thousand treasures in the treasury, and I will give them all to you as a dowry.”
Yan Zhao shook his head with a smile. “I don’t like anything else. The most precious treasure is already in front of me.” Rong Yu was happy when he heard this and hugged him and kissed him again. After kissing, he whispered, “Sun, shall we try that…fish water…what joy?”
Yan Zhao was taken aback. “Now?”
“We love each other, why can’t it be now?”
“Don’t want to wait until the wedding night?”
“That’s the rule that mortals have. Us demons have always done whatever we want, and I have a strong desire for you now…”
What else can Yan Zhao do? He endured it for over a thousand years.
_
The lingering love between the Red Lotus Karmic Fire and the Red Gold Sun is the most passionate lingering in the world.
After the long night, the sun did not rise again.
Rong Yu closed his eyes and called softly: “Sun.”
Yan Zhao lowered his head and smiled: “I’m here.”
Rong Yu opened his eyes suddenly, looked beside himself in a daze: “…Sun?”
Yan Zhao was helpless: “Don’t you see me?”
But Rong Yu lifted the quilt, passed through his body, put on his black hair and searched everywhere, frowning and said: “Where did you go so early in the morning?”
Yan Zhao’s face turned pale, and a chill rose from the bottom of his heart.
Violation of the oath will be punished with the most painful punishment in the world.
“I am not afraid of mountains of swords and seas of fire, and I will not regret dying. I just want to spend this life with him until the end of the world, even if I suffer the pain of backlash for the rest of my life.”
“As you wish.”
The most painful punishment for him in this world is nothing more than not being able to love, getting it and losing it again.
It is me who can truly accompany you forever.
But you can’t see me.
